If you are visiting Cape Town you must visit the Cape Peninsula! The Cape Peninsula is sometimes given as the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Thus, the west coast of the Peninsula is invariably referred to as the "Atlantic Coast". You can be sure to find some great scenery here as well as meeting the famous penguin colony. Why wouldn’t you want to meet some penguins?
If you would prefer a tour that is more active and involves a small group of people, the tour linked below would be perfect for you. It includes the opportunity to hike/bike/drive to see different sights and lasts a full day. Lunch and hotel pick up and drop off is included. Below is a review that nicely sums up the quality of the tour.
“Great small group personalized tour! Michael was very knowledgeable and you can tell he enjoyed what he does. Freddie provided a smooth ride with comic relief. We saw the penguins and paid a small extra fee to take a boat ride to see the seal colony. Juice, water and snacks were provided. Lunch was good and they even got something special for my vegetarian wife. The bike ride was very easy and we saw a Zebra and Impala. The hike/walk was more moderate but not bad and there is even a small beach that you might have time to spend a few minutes at. I would highly recommend.”
Wine tasting tour
If you are looking for a relaxing day out where you can explore some of the oldest and prettiest towns in Cape Town, why not go on a wine tasting tour! On the tour linked below you will visit the beautiful Paarl Valley, village of Franschhoek and Stellenbosh, the second oldest town in South Africa! I’m sure you will find the perfect wine for you on this trip.
“Two of the wineries were outstanding, and while the view from the second one was stunning, the wine was terrible! Enjoyed our lunch stop and our guide.”
Whale watching tour
While visiting Cape Town you must try and go on a whale-watching trip to Hermanus. It isn’t guaranteed you will see them but if you do it is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience. Hermanus is a town on the southern coast of the Western Cape province of South Africa.
It is famous for southern right whale watching during the southern winter and spring and is a popular retirement town. The whales can be seen from the cliffs in the town centre as early as June and usually depart in early December. The tour suggested below includes a free pick up and drop off service, whale watching through the Hermanus coastline, a guide through the seaside towns of Gordon’s bay, Pringle Bay and Betty’s Bay and you can even take a look at the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve.
“An interesting day tour. Good service to be picked up and returned to the place I stayed at Cape Town. Was nice to meet people from different countries who joined the tour. Unforgettable to see the whales so close on the boat trip.”
Sandboarding and Quad biking tour
If you love the outdoors and adventure then why not go on a sandboarding and quad biking tour on the sand dunes. The tour suggested below is a 7-hour tour which includes hotel pick up and drop off. It will allow you to experience two sports only possible in the desert! If you are a bit of an adrenaline junkie, I am confident that you will love this tour.
Hop-on Hop-off tour
If you’re on a budget or would just like a brief overview of the city sights then I would recommend the hop-on hop-off tour. On this tour, you’re able to choose your own itinerary for the trip and can choose out of two roots.
I would recommend you buy the two-day ticket so that you have the opportunity to go on the sunset tour, wine tour and canal cruise. This tour allows you to see all of the main sights within the city centre itself which isn’t offered by the other tours. Below is a couple of reviews of the hop-on hop-off tour:
“Cape Town was amazing. The HOHO routes are good and has stuff for people with different preferences. A great way of seeing the place to both - scope out what you want to do on your own or to even better explore the recommended sites. Key places like Table Top mountain, the wharf are covered which made it worthwhile. Ease of procuring tickets and helpful staff was also a benefit.”
“Getting early on Table Mountain and being able to purchase tickets from the driver was so worth it - great value!”
