The reason I wanted to come to Cape Town was that it was somewhere I had never been to before and I heard amazing things about the city! I also knew I wanted to do an internship to get work experience so Bridging Gaps gave me the opportunity to put the two together into one trip. It just made sense that this was the place to come!
I was initially just looking for some real working experience. I wanted a job I could learn from, whether it was something I’d eventually decide to go into or not, I just wanted some work experience.
My actual internship was great because it really did provide me with hands-on experience of a marketing environment which I initially knew nothing about. I feel like I’m leaving the internship knowing so much more, not just about the work, but also about myself; like my working patterns and my work ethic.
Yes absolutely. I received so much support.
Yes, I was. I was given the chance to complete various tasks. I was involved in a bit of everything!
Yes, it did. It challenged me in terms of organisation and time management because that was something I’ve never really had to do before! After starting out I was suddenly having to stick to very strict deadlines and get things done. That challenged me a lot, but I worked through it and I feel great about it now!
Yes, a hundred percent! It taught me so much and I don’t think I would have gotten this experience back home!

I was worried whether I’d settle in alright and whether I’d get along with the people I was living with and working with.
They were absolutely stupid fears and a can’t imagine ever coming back to Cape Town, or travelling on my own for that matter, and having those fears again.
I am absolutely obsessed with it! I am completely in love with Cape Town!!

Yes, they did. They sent through so much information, not only to me but to my parents as well. They included all of us in the process which was great because my parents were especially worried about me travelling alone. They were always there for me. If I had any questions I’d just sent you guys an email and then I would get a response that same day, sometimes within an hour! I don’t even get that service back home!!
It was brilliant! The Bridging Gaps team was always there to help. If I ever needed something I would just send you a message and you would either reply, call or just show up at my doorstep to help me out!
Just how hands on you are! You make an effort to get to know all the interns and you really care about our wellbeing. It’s really nice to have that support especially when you are alone in a foreign country for the first time!

Yes, I already have!
From me, I don’t think there’s anything you can improve on. You’ve ticked every box!
If you were concerned about the costs, yes it can sometimes be expensive to do this sort of thing, but it is SO worth it. I couldn’t recommend it more! I loved my time here!
