Placement & Programme
What were your reasons for wanting to complete a Film & Photography internship programme in South Africa?

It was two good things coming together. I was looking for internships for a while. Then I saw the film and tv internship offered by Bridging Gaps. I’ve also watched many videos about Cape Town and it looked very beautiful. It seemed like a really good place to go.

What kind of internship experience were you initially looking for?

Just one with a bit of range- I’ve done similar things before so I was looking for something familiar but new to put on my CV.

How did your actual internship placement compare to your ideal internship experience? ?

Pretty similar actually. I never expected that I would have as much responsibility as I was actually given!

Did you receive sufficient levels of supervision and guidance from your colleagues at your host organisation?

Yes, I worked with a few different people, and they were very helpful.

Were you given adequate responsibilities during your internship?

Yes definitely!

Did taking part in your internship challenge you and help develop your skills?

Yes I think the skills I have learned I will definitely be able to apply to TV companies back home, which is great!

Do you feel that you were given the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to your local host organisation?

Overall, was this international internship a worthwhile experience that will help you achieve your career goals?

Yes and the fact that it was an international internship looks very good on my CV. It will have a big impact in my future.

Location
What fears did you have before coming to with Bridging Gaps?

I was worried that I might have not enjoy it, and be stuck here for a long time.

What do you think about those fears now?

I’m happy I came and I’m Happy I decided to stay as long as I did, instead of doing a shorter internship.

After spending some time in the city, what is your impression of Cape Town?

I really like Cape Town. Its probably the best place I’ve been to!

Would you recommend Cape Town as a worthwhile and enjoyable place to visit?

Definitely!

It was good yes. You were always there when we needed to communicate.

The support aspect. We see you very regularly, and you are always checking up on us to make sure we are doing alright.

Would you recommend pursuing a Film & Photography internship programme in Cape Town with us to others?

Definitely.

In what ways could our internship programmes be improved?

I’d recommend that interns use the taxis waiting down town. They are much cheaper than Ubers…

Before you applied, how did you feel about the programme fees?

I thought it was expensive when you include accommodation and flights, but just the Bridging Gaps fees, I don’t think are too bad.

Having completed your placement and had the experiences you've have, what do you think about the fees now?

I thought the package was just fine for me. I wouldn’t have needed a different one.

What would you say to someone that is considering an internship here but is concerned about the fees?

I say if they can afford it then definitely do it!

Anything else you would like to add?
