From what I’ve seen from other internship companies and heard from other people doing internships here in Cape Town, it seems like the quality of the internship placements that Bridging Gaps secures are much higher. I think that's quite unique! (and am very grateful for it too)

Why others apply for International Trade internship programmes

Here's what others said when they applied. Some of these people came just for this career area, some mixed it with other career fields too...

Vera

I hope to gain more experience in plant science at a higher educational level (for example a university). I am really interested in how plants grow and how they are cultured, especially tropical (production) plants. I also consider a job in plant breeding. I would prefer to work with plants in the lab/climatecells/outdoors and besides that to gain some computer related skills for example bioinformatics. I am also interested in international trade, but my major is applied biology, so I have no experience with this. And of course it would be nice to have nice colleagues to work together with :)

Being originally from Cape Town has made me aware of the obstacles that stand in our path to become a progressive human rights culture. I believe this internship will provide me with first-hand knowledge and experience about the social inequalities, violence, corruption and high unemployment rate that plague our beautiful country. I believe the theoretical knowledge I have acquired at the University of Groningen through my International Relations Master program will offer new insights to issues and use it to build creative ideas. I am largely specialized and interested in illicit trade, drug and human trafficking, community management and corruption.

My career goal is to launch an ethical ESG (environmental, social, and governance) emerging market investment firm to generate profits for investors and foster sustainable growth and prosperity in developing countries. I have a wealth of finance experience (MS in Finance from Vanderbilt University, 5+ years of front office investment banking experience, and am a CFA, etc.), but do have sustainability experience. This year, I will be going back for my 2-year full-time MBA at Northwestern University, where I will study impact investing and sustainability. Before entering school, I would like to complete a pre-MBA summer internship in impact investing or sustainability (preferably in Africa), so I can acquire a background in these areas before studying and pursuing professional opportunities in the them.

I wish to know more about the trend setters of the world intimately studying the policy making process. I also wish to gain acumen in my domain as I've been fascinated with world history politics since
Arthur

I hope to gain experience, to put into practice what I have learned so far and also to improve my English level .

I hope to attain work experience at a reputable institution that will be a launching pad for my career as an international trade lawyer

I would love to work full-time as an intern at any organization involved with international development, trade, or consulting. I am majoring in International Affairs and Economics and these topics really interest me. Any opportunity in these areas would be extremely interesting for me!
