Medical and Public Health Volunteer

Volunteering in a healthcare setting in the developing world can be an extremely challenging experience, but it can also be the most gratifying.

Most government hospitals in South Africa struggle with a lack of equipment, human resources and facilities and this provides an unparalleled learning environment for medical volunteers.

As a volunteer in this field you will have the chance to work alongside specialists with very different skills and responsibilities to what you will be used to back home, as well as interacting with patients from very different backgrounds.

Our healthcare programme in Cape Town provides an ideal opportunity to immerse yourself in and contribute tremendously to the Public health system of South Africa.

We have opportunities in a variety of settings: hospitals, community clinics, research establishments, children’s homes and NGO’s.

These places can accommodate volunteers who are interested in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutrition and home based care.
